Activity
to understand Heat:
1. Keep a piece of wood and a
piece of metal in a fridge or ice box for 15 minutes.
2. After 15 minutes take them
out, we feel that they were cold to touch.
3. When we touch metal piece or
wooden piece, the heat energy is being transferred from our body to metal piece
or wooden piece.
4. Therefore, we feel they are
cold.
Heat –
Definition:
Heat is an energy that flows from
a hotter body to colder body.
- The SI unit of heat: Joule (J)

unit of heat: Calorie (cal)
- 1 Calorie = 4.186 joules.
Calorie:
The amount of heat required to
raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 10 C is called Calorie.
- 1 Calorie = 4.186 joules.
